After the draniage panels are placed, a filter fabric membrane is placed on top of the drainage panels. The filter fabric is made of a synthetic material that will not rot or decompose. The purpose of the filter fabric is to prevent the soil from getting into the drainage panels below, which would clog the drainage chanels.
